Evaluations

PBR Evaluation 6/20/17

5-foot-8, 170-pound, strong, durable athletic frame. The wrists and forearms have strength to them. A right-handed hitting catcher who had a very good day on both sides of the field. At the plate, hits with a slightly open stance, hands are held higher than shoulder height with some pre pitch movement. For timing gets the hands and weight back, has a small leg kick, leads into a stride that gains ground, leg kick helps getting the weight back, as well with giving him some juice to swing the back. The swing is level to up, stays through it well and finishes with one hand. The approach is gap to gap with one line drive after another. The tee exit velocity was 85 mph, and ran an easy 4.44 down the line, showed a good kick. In game performance was very good, collected a big double, a single and ran the bases extremely well. Defensively, is athletic and flexible behind the plate, works low to the ground, gains ground with footwork during transfer. The hands are strong gets behind the ball well receiving, works hard on dirt balls. The arm is clean, short and works out of a natural slot, has plenty of carry to throws, clocked at 72 mph, threw a runner out in the game on a real good throw. Pop times were 1.97-2.07. Ran the game well, showed to be a solid leader. Serious follow, need to go watch this summer.

Home – First: 4.44
Exit Velocity: 85 mph

Prep Baseball Report 11/15/15
Only a freshman, had a great workout at this event. A right-handed hitting catcher, the stance is short and hands are set above shoulder in a good starting position. Hands are loose and have a little movement, uses a small leg kick for his timing. The path to the ball is good, gets uphill at times, has a one handed finish. The bat speed is advanced, the tee exit was 82. Behind the plate setup is balanced, sits on the flats of his feet. Feet and hands work well together, transfer is clean and closes frontside down. Pop times were 2.12-2.19 and arm strength was 64. Needs to gain arm strength, will come over time with proper long toss and natural strength. The frame is solid for his age, has plenty of room to add strength and mass. Good looking young catcher. (CLICK HERE TO SEE ARTICLE)
